Your dream is to participate in the Tour de France? Is cycling your great passion? Nothing to lose! Have you heard about the L’Etape by Tour de France competition series? These are races aimed at people just like you – keen amateur cyclists.
For the second time, we had the pleasure of preparing commemorative medals for participants in cycling events organised under the auspices of the Tour de France. There was Switzerland, and it was time for the Czech Republic and Prague – one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and perhaps even in the world.
L’Etape by Tour de France is a series of cycling races under the auspices of the Tour de France, the largest and most prestigious race for professional cyclists.
Competitions in the L’Etape series take place all over the world: in many countries in Europe, Australia, China, Southeast Asia, Mexico, the USA and South America. The races organised in France are, of course, the most popular. L’Etape is aimed at amateurs, cycling enthusiasts who want to try their hand at professionally prepared courses.
L’Etape Czech Republic is a race for amateurs taking place over two routes: 130 km and 90 km. Competitors started and crossed the finish line in Prague, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. On the scenic routes there was no shortage of climbs and steep ascents, where the riders could face not only their rivals, but above all their own weaknesses.
The cycling competition in the Czech Republic was aimed at amateurs. Each rider could decide whether they would treat it as a competition or whether it would be a great adventure and a cycling challenge for them. Each registered participant received from the organisers a commemorative sports medal designed and produced by Modern Forms.
In addition to the races, participants and fans could look forward to many accompanying events. A festival park was organised in Prague, where everyone could try French cuisine, view and buy souvenirs related to the Tour de France or take part in numerous games for children and the elderly.

At Modern Forms, we prepared 2,300 pieces of medals for participants in the race in the Czech Republic and 96 personalised medals in various categories. The shape of the sports medals was inspired by bicycle gears. They were made of black-painted steel with gold-coloured edges. The medals were printed with the event logo, an outline map of the Czech Republic and personalisation. Each medal also features cut-outs (openwork). The medals also have a dedicated printing ribbon.
In addition to the medals for participants and winners, we also prepared 26 cycling trophies: 18 trophies for cycling groups and 8 for individual competitors. The trophies have an analogous design to the medals. An additional element is a wooden base in black colour and an insert with silhouettes of the cyclists.
