Survival Race – Obstacle Run for Modern Forms medals

What do the Survival Race obstacle runners and Modern Forms productions have in common? The answer is simple – years of successful cooperation and participation in the sporting successes of the runners taking part in the survival competition. Here’s everything you need to know about the runs and our projects for their organiser. Let’s start with the basics…

Obstacle runs are a real challenge, both for the runner’s body and mind. At the same time, competing in them provides a real dose of endorphins, adrenaline and pure satisfaction. Why is it worth taking an interest in this particular sport? What attracts one of the more demanding and varied types of running so strongly? Here is what you need to know about obstacle running.

What are obstacle courses?

Simply speaking, Obstacle Course Racing (or OCR running) is a demanding course – usually measuring several kilometres, although this is not the rule. The distance itself is not the only challenge. Instead, it is the various obstacles that participants encounter along the route. As well as battling fatigue, kilometres and time, runners face all sorts of obstacles during an OCR run.

What makes obstacle running special?

What particularly distinguishes obstacle runs from traditional ones is the need to involve different muscle groups when completing the route. This, of course, translates into an extra dose of effort and requires the participant to be much more fit and efficient. The runner has to face the challenges awaiting every runner and, in addition, cope with the obstacles prepared along the route by the organisers.

It is worth noting that the obstacles themselves can be of two types – natural and constructed. Organisers can use the natural conditions of the trail to make the run more difficult. Crossing ravines, marshes, gullies, ditches filled with water or mud are just examples of obstacles of this type. Alternatively, there are artificial obstacles along the running route. They can be in the form of climbing walls, crawling tracks, containers filled with cold water, and dams.

Obstacle types on OCR running routes

  • aquatic
  • muds
  • strength and efficiency

Survival Race difficulty levels

  • Starter 3 km (up to 15 obstacles) – ideal challenge for beginners,
  • Warrior 6 km (up to 30 obstacles) – a suggestion for runners with experience,
  • Machine 12 km (up to 50 obstacles) – a real challenge for runners.

Survival Race – Polish OCR at its best

An excellent example of an obstacle run is the Survival Race. It offers participating competitors a wide range of different obstacles and a variety of levels. This allows runners to adapt the course and its challenges perfectly to themselves, their skills and their performance capabilities. At the same time, the organisers of the OCR competition also ensure that runners do not get bored with the predictability of the obstacles available – these can vary from season to season. In addition, the constructions are tailored to the difficulty level of one of the three Survival Race distances.

What makes the Survival Race even more special is the competition not only over various distances, but also in categories. The organisers have envisaged as many as 4 of them.

Participants can choose between 4 different types of competition:

  • Survival Race – classic obstacle run for adults
  • Survival Race Kids – obstacle race for children
  • Survival Race Junior – obstacle runs adapted to the level of teenagers
  • Survival Race Legend – obstacle race for professionals

The levels of difficulty here are tailored to the participants. The organisers took care to vary the obstacles and provide attractions – especially for the youngest participants.

Modern Forms for the Survival Race

As a manufacturer of medals and sports trophies, we have had the opportunity to work with Survival Race organisers since 2016, during which time the counter of our products has already reached the number of around 125,000 pieces. They have found their way into the hands of both the youngest participants of the Survival Race, hobby runners, as well as professional athletes expertly measuring themselves against obstacles on the course. An excellent example of an exceptionally successful realisation that we created for the Survival Race was the hexagonal medals for the Survival Race competition in Wrocław.

Each year, our cooperation with the organisers of the survival run not only expands in scope, but also becomes more diverse. The numbers of sports medals ordered are growing – as the number of runners taking part increases. At the same time, the medallists are also becoming an increasingly diverse group – including active kids aged 3 to 13, who joined the medal group in 2022, and juniors aged 14 to 16.

Our long-standing cooperation with Survival Race has resulted in a number of interestingly presented products. All of them have become part of the sporting successes of obstacle runners and, at the same time, an unforgettable souvenir of sporting competition at the highest level.
