Glow in the dark medals for a night run

We did it again together with the Pogórze Ultra Trail Association! On 15 October 2022, Strzyżów hosted a night run through the streets of the town. The public, the participants and the weather were all in favour, and our glow in the dark medals received a number of enthusiastic reviews. Would you like to take a look at them? We invite you to take a look at the project.

Saint Michael’s Night Run in Strzyżów

Strzyżów is a small town in Podkarpacie region, located in the picturesque Strzyżowsko-Dynowski Foothills, 30 km from Rzeszów. In order to take advantage of the specific microclimate and location of the city, a group of sports enthusiasts organised the Pogórze Ultra Trail mountain run in July, which received a lot of publicity in the running world. Over 300 competitors took part in the summer PUT run, and Modern Forms supported it by making awards and gadgets for the participants.

Following the blow, the organisers in October launched another run – the Night Run of St Michael – patron saint of Strzyżów. Thus resuming a running tradition that was interrupted seven years ago. As a manufacturer of sports and commemorative awards based in the Strzyżów district, we were keen to take part in the preparations for the run and became a partner of the event.

Organisers of the run with shining at night

What could the participants expect?

  • 10 km route along the city streets, including a stage in a shelter tunnel,
  • 320 m elevation gain,
  • start in several age categories.
  • unique awards from Modern Forms.

Awards for runners

We have prepared 210 pieces of irregularly shaped medals for the participants. The design refers to the moon and the wings of the Archangel Michael. The award features the city’s coat of arms and the name and date of the event. The overall colour scheme was black and white. Bearing in mind that the run took place at night, we made sure that the medals shine. The white elements were covered with fluorescent film, which gives off a glow in the dark when exposed to light. The medals were hung on sublimation tapes with an imprint referring to the design of the medal.

Additional awards

In addition to the medals, we also prepared 46 trophies for the winners in the various categories. The main panel was made of black steel with 3D UV printing. The motive of the design was based on the medal – the moon, wings, the name and date of the event, and the PUT logo. The metal panel was set in a wooden base in black with a personalised inscription distinguishing the categories.

Participants and supporters also received 270 fridge magnets as a practical gadget to commemorate the event and encourage participation in the next edition.

Survival Race – Obstacle Run for Modern Forms medals

What do the Survival Race obstacle runners and Modern Forms productions have in common? The answer is simple – years of successful cooperation and participation in the sporting successes of the runners taking part in the survival competition. Here’s everything you need to know about the runs and our projects for their organiser. Let’s start with the basics…

Obstacle runs are a real challenge, both for the runner’s body and mind. At the same time, competing in them provides a real dose of endorphins, adrenaline and pure satisfaction. Why is it worth taking an interest in this particular sport? What attracts one of the more demanding and varied types of running so strongly? Here is what you need to know about obstacle running.

What are obstacle courses?

Simply speaking, Obstacle Course Racing (or OCR running) is a demanding course – usually measuring several kilometres, although this is not the rule. The distance itself is not the only challenge. Instead, it is the various obstacles that participants encounter along the route. As well as battling fatigue, kilometres and time, runners face all sorts of obstacles during an OCR run.

What makes obstacle running special?

What particularly distinguishes obstacle runs from traditional ones is the need to involve different muscle groups when completing the route. This, of course, translates into an extra dose of effort and requires the participant to be much more fit and efficient. The runner has to face the challenges awaiting every runner and, in addition, cope with the obstacles prepared along the route by the organisers.

It is worth noting that the obstacles themselves can be of two types – natural and constructed. Organisers can use the natural conditions of the trail to make the run more difficult. Crossing ravines, marshes, gullies, ditches filled with water or mud are just examples of obstacles of this type. Alternatively, there are artificial obstacles along the running route. They can be in the form of climbing walls, crawling tracks, containers filled with cold water, and dams.

Obstacle types on OCR running routes

  • aquatic
  • muds
  • strength and efficiency

Survival Race difficulty levels

  • Starter 3 km (up to 15 obstacles) – ideal challenge for beginners,
  • Warrior 6 km (up to 30 obstacles) – a suggestion for runners with experience,
  • Machine 12 km (up to 50 obstacles) – a real challenge for runners.

Survival Race – Polish OCR at its best

An excellent example of an obstacle run is the Survival Race. It offers participating competitors a wide range of different obstacles and a variety of levels. This allows runners to adapt the course and its challenges perfectly to themselves, their skills and their performance capabilities. At the same time, the organisers of the OCR competition also ensure that runners do not get bored with the predictability of the obstacles available – these can vary from season to season. In addition, the constructions are tailored to the difficulty level of one of the three Survival Race distances.

What makes the Survival Race even more special is the competition not only over various distances, but also in categories. The organisers have envisaged as many as 4 of them.

Participants can choose between 4 different types of competition:

  • Survival Race – classic obstacle run for adults
  • Survival Race Kids – obstacle race for children
  • Survival Race Junior – obstacle runs adapted to the level of teenagers
  • Survival Race Legend – obstacle race for professionals

The levels of difficulty here are tailored to the participants. The organisers took care to vary the obstacles and provide attractions – especially for the youngest participants.

Modern Forms for the Survival Race

As a manufacturer of medals and sports trophies, we have had the opportunity to work with Survival Race organisers since 2016, during which time the counter of our products has already reached the number of around 125,000 pieces. They have found their way into the hands of both the youngest participants of the Survival Race, hobby runners, as well as professional athletes expertly measuring themselves against obstacles on the course. An excellent example of an exceptionally successful realisation that we created for the Survival Race was the hexagonal medals for the Survival Race competition in Wrocław.

Each year, our cooperation with the organisers of the survival run not only expands in scope, but also becomes more diverse. The numbers of sports medals ordered are growing – as the number of runners taking part increases. At the same time, the medallists are also becoming an increasingly diverse group – including active kids aged 3 to 13, who joined the medal group in 2022, and juniors aged 14 to 16.

Our long-standing cooperation with Survival Race has resulted in a number of interestingly presented products. All of them have become part of the sporting successes of obstacle runners and, at the same time, an unforgettable souvenir of sporting competition at the highest level.

Always the first against breast cancer (awards)

October has been celebrated worldwide as Breast Cancer Awareness Month since 1985. All initiatives related to prevention and the fight against this cancer culminate in October. The same is true of the Women’s Run, which has brought together thousands of Polish women since 2015. This year, the final run will take place on October 9 at Malta in Poznań.

We have been producing medals for this important event since 2017. From this article you will find out what Pink October is, a bit more about the foundation and the Women’s Run, and see some of our medals related to the Breast Cancer Prevention event.

October with a pink ribbon

It is estimated that every year breast cancer is diagnosed in more than 1.5 million women, and more than 500 000 ladies die from it. In Poland, this cancer is one of the biggest causes of premature death in women. The risk of the disease increases with age, but this does not mean that a young girl cannot get breast cancer as well.

The idea of Pink October is to support and remind people of the importance of prevention, self-examination and quick diagnosis, which can save lives. One of the biggest running events with a pink ribbon in the background is the Women’s Run organised by Mrs Marzena Michalec – Woman on the Run.

Women’s Run for Health

Always before breast cancer first is the slogan that guides the organisers and participants of the Women’s Run. It is the largest running event in Poland supporting women and promoting health care, not only in the context of cancer. Every year, more and more ladies join the race who want to take care of themselves and their friends. The Foundation provides free preventive examinations for participants, supports „onco heroines” (every year financial support is given to ladies facing cancer), promotes a healthy, active lifestyle, and organises training and webinars on health issues.

The final run took place on 9 October in Poznań, but participants run all year round. There is also a virtual Women’s Run with a final on 30 October, in which anyone who has supported the Foundation and the heroine (in the 2022 edition it is Ms Sylwia) can take part by purchasing a participation package. The package includes a T-shirt with a colourful print and the run logo, a Modern Forms medal in the shape of a butterfly and a pink ribbon, a starting number and a cosmetics kit. 10% of the amount from each order financially supports Ms Sylwia’s treatment.

MODERN FORMS AWARDS FOR THE WOMEN’S RACE

Hero od women's run
Two women with medals

The Women’s Run is our long-standing customer. We have been producing awards for this noble event since 2017. It is our medals that you will find in the participants’ start packs. Every year, their design changes. This year’s medals are shaped like a butterfly, which symbolically gives wings to the female competitors. A symbol of the fight against breast cancer – a pink ribbon – has been woven into the shape of this colourful insect. The entire design is finished with a pink sublimation ribbon printed with the run logo.

This year, for the first time, a race dedicated specifically to children was organised. These medals also come from our workshop. They have a simple shape and a colourful, fun print. The children’s medals are cut out of black steel and are given to each little runner as a memento of the start. We know how such a symbolic trophy can ignite the will to fight in kids.

Hiking. Is it a sport for everyone? (project)

You know the most popular hiker of all time from your childhood. Admit it yourself – when you watched the iconic Moomins, didn’t you admire the Tramp? A somewhat nostalgic wanderer who didn’t have to reckon with anyone or anything. He didn’t book hotels, check timetables or buy plane tickets. He didn’t even bother with his equipment or his physical condition. He simply threw his rucksack over his shoulder and walked in any direction he wanted. You can do the same.

Instead of running – march!

Don’t like running? Doesn’t the bike appeal to you either? Then you might want to take a serious interest in marching. Is it not a sport? Is it really?

Health benefits of marching:

  • regular walking has good effects on the musculoskeletal and cardiovascular systems,
  • reduces the risk of diabetes, hypertension and heart disease,
  • the progressive nature of walking provides a non-invasive workout for the whole body and improves fitness without the risk of injury or trauma,
  • marching also ventilates the head perfectly.
Participants in the mammoth march. Hiking
photo: MammutMarch

Why else should you start marching? Walking, marching, hiking – whatever you call it – is an activity accessible to everyone, regardless of the weather, season, physical condition or age. You can walk in the mountains, in the wilderness, in forests, on beaches, but you can also walk in your immediate surroundings, discovering more and more new places and enjoying the outdoors.

Marching can be seen as recreation, a break from everyday responsibilities (e.g. desk work), but also as a low-injury workout (especially regular brisk walking). It’s a way to be active solo or in a group. You can invite all family members, friends to join you on a hike, or take part in organised walks or hikes with strangers.

Hiking. How to start hiking?

You can start your hiking adventure today. You will definitely need comfortable shoes and socks. They don’t have to be professional trekkers. For a start, sporty shoes with thicker soles that will keep you comfortable walking on a variety of surfaces will suffice. If you are planning excursions further from home – take along a rucksack, water, snacks (preferably fruit or chocolate) and something for the unpredictable weather.

photo: MammutMarch

Training for beginner hikers:

  • start with shorter routes (5, 10 km will be just fine to begin with), adjusting the length and difficulty of the trail to your ability,
  • don’t break records, keep a relaxed pace. On average you can cover 4-5 km on flat terrain in an hour,
  • choose varied routes to find the ground that is best for you.

Planning a multi-day backpacking tour? Start training as early as 6-9 months in advance to prepare your body for a prolonged effort. Don’t limit yourself to just walking – cycling, swimming, light jogging with uphill stretches will improve your fitness brilliantly.

Mammutmarch. Extreme hiking on charming trails

Hiking can be a real test of character and breaking down one’s barriers. The organisers of the Mammut March know this. What is the Mammutmarsch? It is an extreme hiking challenge, during which you and a group of hikers tackle trails of various lengths through picturesque locations in Germany, Austria and Denmark.

The organisers always try to keep the route off the main roads. The routes are generally not easy. There is plenty of varied terrain, lakes and forests. There are also well-located refreshment points, where fresh water, fruit and snacks await walkers.

At each stage of the Mammoth March you can count on the support of participants (it is always better to walk in a group) and volunteers. The routes are well marked, plus you are given cards to help you find your way using GPS navigation. The minimum requirement to take part in the march is the experience of walking a 35 km route.

MEDALS FOR HIKING PARTICIPANTS

We have been working with the organisers of the Mammoth March since April 2021. To date, we have produced more than 29,000 medals for march participants in Germany. We have further productions ahead of us for the treks in Denmark.

The Mammutmarch medals are made of black steel with printing in a reference to the logo (yellow, white, black). The awards for the different editions are different. The shape of the medal changes (rectangle, circle, pentagon) and so does the printing – the medals have personalisation due to the distance, the city and the country in which the march is currently taking place. Also, the ribbons for the medals are not the same all the time – the colours and prints can also be personalised for a specific event.

Bottle openers. A convenient gadget not only for breweries

Bottle openers are gadgets that are already starting to experience their second youth. In the age of eco-friendly products, more and more drinks companies are opting for lines released in glass bottles. More and more consumers are also choosing glass over plastic. As a result, customised bottle openers will soon become a desirable gadget that everyone will carry with them. It raises enormous promotional potential for almost every company, not just the catering or brewing industry.

Still haven’t decided on gadgets to advertise your business? Read why it is worth investing in this form of advertising and why you needbottle openers to promote yourself.

Everyone likes gifts. 5x yes to corporate gadgets

  1. Gifts in the form of various gadgets continue to be a great support for sales and a way of building a positive image and company recognition. A potential customer using an advertising gadget has an opportunity to interact with a brand on a daily basis, deepens and consolidates its existence on the market, and sometimes recognises it as 'theirs’.

  2. Promotional gadgets retain and attract the attention of recipients, prompting them to find out more about the offer, to find out where the gift comes from and what products or services the brand offers.

  3. Alongside online advertising, company gadgets are still recognised as an effective and inexpensive way to promote and reach new customers. They are an integral part of trade fairs, conferences, events, training courses, and even anniversary and Christmas meetings with employees and partners.

  4. Handing over an advertising gadget is a great pretext for conversation, presenting an offer or exchanging business cards at face-to-face meetings. This simple gesture shortens the distance and creates a positive impression at first (or subsequent) contact with the brand. It also makes us work more efficiently – getting or reaching out to a customer faster. It also has a psychological impact if the gadget is personalised, well-chosen for a specific recipient. After all, who among us doesn’t like to receive gifts?

  5. A customer or employee using gadgets is a living advertisement for the brand. A practical, well-made gadget testifies to the quality of the services or products you offer, and inspires pride in your employees for belonging to your company.

What to use promotional bottle openers for?

  • An original addition to promotional activities, e.g. at trade fairs, conferences, and industry meetings – participants are much more likely to take practical gadgets from exhibitors’ stands which they can use in their everyday lives. A great plus for bottle openers will be an interesting shape, an eye-catching print or an additional function, e.g. a key ring bottle opener, which can be carried with them at all times,
  • a way of thanking a customer, business partner or employee – a nice, small gift is always welcome by the recipient. It is worth ensuring that bottle openers given as an expression of gratitude are attractive and match the character of the company,
  • an element of visual identity and a gadget consistent with the industry – bottle openers are an absolute must have for producers of beverages with caps (orangeades, sweet drinks, mineral waters, popular beers and craft brews), pubs, restaurants or even cafés or hotels. But not only. Bottle openers will work well in almost any industry as an attractive gadget to be used every day by potential customers,
  • customised business card – you can design the opener to be unmistakably associated with your company and, of course, put your company contact details on it: company name, phone, email or qr code to your website.
Colourful bottle opener

Modern Forms bottle openers

You already know that corporate gifts and the very moment they are handed out are extremely important. However, in order for key rings, bottle openers and other accessories to have the desired effect, they must fulfil several conditions:

  • Attractive, original design – a bottle opener that resembles hundreds of others will not grab the heart of a potential customer. You need something extra – an unusual shape, a colourful print or maybe even extra functionality (medal bottle opener, key ring bottle opener). At Modern Forms we can cut out any shape and print whatever you want on your bottle opener. In full colour at no extra charge. We are also specialists in 3D printing – thanks to several layers of printing, a clear 3D structure can be felt under the fingertips. This effect really impresses gadget users.
  • usefulness – a nice appearance is not enough, the gadget must be useful and must accompany the user every day in order to fulfil its purpose (getting familiar with the brand, considering it „yours”). We make sure that our bottle openers are comfortable to use, handy and almost indestructible.
  • brand reference – when designing corporate gadgets, make sure they are consistent with the brand, evoke associations and reflect its character. Maybe the botle opener should be shaped like the company logo or mascot? At Modern Forms we can make one for you. Remember that you can make your bottle opener into an unusual business card by placing your logo, contact details or qr code to a selected place on the web.

A bit of Modern Forms statistics

Every day, our sales specialist make around 20 phone calls to customers, send 30 emails and... travel 21 km to follow up on your orders directly in production. The title of the best salesman in the first half of 2022 went to Tomek, who filled the most orders, but he is still trailing Iwonka and Alicja. The girls will certainly not give up in the second half of the year. We are keeping our fingers crossed for them!

We are opening up to new markets - the Chicago fair is the first step to start working with clients from the US. Agnieszka has recently been working with us, charming event organisers from Italy with offers. We are also looking for sales specialists with other languages to make contact with our customers from all over the world.

In total, our graphic designers prepared almost 3,000 projects in the first six months of 2022, almost 500 more than in the same period in 2021! Ewelina and Anita have handed in the most projects to date. The girls (and the guys too) are working like ants to ensure that you receive your medal and trophy designs as quickly as possible.

We’re celebrating a round work anniversary!

Peter's work anniversary at Modern Forms

In mid-July, we had a great reason to celebrate. Piotrek – head of the trophy production team celebrated his round work anniversary. Piotrek has been with us from the very beginning and has been creating beautiful awards and trophies for you on various occasions for 10 years now.

He is our company sunshine, always smiling and helpful. He not only makes sure that the products coming out of his hands are excellent – but also the good atmosphere in the team. You can always count on his help and good humour. Peter, it is an honour to work with you!

Practical promotional gadgets – key rings

A key ring is an inconspicuous but very useful gadget. Thanks to it, we can easily distinguish the keys we need from a pile of other, almost identical ones. A key ring is also a great way to emphasise your character, show your interests or… an excellent option to advertise your company and be „with customer” all the time.

Why are keyrings a good way to promote?

The answer is simple. Keychains are a gadget that is always at hand or in sight. We use different types of keys several, several times a day. That is reason enough to think warmer about company key rings, which will be close to your potential customer every day and use them to promote your company or event.

What can the personalised keyrings be used for?

  • as a small gift at trade fairs, industry meetings, events (also sports events), conferences,
  • it is a good way to support larger promotional campaigns as a free gadget added to other, more expensive products,
  • a modern business card for the company, which will include the address, website, contact details or qr code,
  • as a way of thanking for an order or appreciating a customer or employee,
  • as a product that relates to the company’s image and evokes positive associations with it,
  • it’s a good way to be around your customers all the time, but not in a pushy way.

L’Etape Czech Republic sports cycling awards – production

Your dream is to participate in the Tour de France? Is cycling your great passion? Nothing to lose! Have you heard about the L’Etape by Tour de France competition series? These are races aimed at people just like you – keen amateur cyclists.

For the second time, we had the pleasure of preparing commemorative medals for participants in cycling events organised under the auspices of the Tour de France. There was Switzerland, and it was time for the Czech Republic and Prague – one of the most beautiful cities in Europe, and perhaps even in the world.

Racing L’Etape by Tour de France – what is it all about?

L’Etape by Tour de France is a series of cycling races under the auspices of the Tour de France, the largest and most prestigious race for professional cyclists.

Competitions in the L’Etape series take place all over the world: in many countries in Europe, Australia, China, Southeast Asia, Mexico, the USA and South America. The races organised in France are, of course, the most popular. L’Etape is aimed at amateurs, cycling enthusiasts who want to try their hand at professionally prepared courses.

The Tour de France atmosphere in the Czech Republic’s capital

L’Etape Czech Republic is a race for amateurs taking place over two routes: 130 km and 90 km. Competitors started and crossed the finish line in Prague, considered by many to be one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. On the scenic routes there was no shortage of climbs and steep ascents, where the riders could face not only their rivals, but above all their own weaknesses.

The cycling competition in the Czech Republic was aimed at amateurs. Each rider could decide whether they would treat it as a competition or whether it would be a great adventure and a cycling challenge for them. Each registered participant received from the organisers a commemorative sports medal designed and produced by Modern Forms

In addition to the races, participants and fans could look forward to many accompanying events. A festival park was organised in Prague, where everyone could try French cuisine, view and buy souvenirs related to the Tour de France or take part in numerous games for children and the elderly.

Cycling medals and trophies for L’Etape Czech Republic

At Modern Forms, we prepared 2,300 pieces of medals for participants in the race in the Czech Republic and 96 personalised medals in various categories. The shape of the sports medals was inspired by bicycle gears. They were made of black-painted steel with gold-coloured edges. The medals were printed with the event logo, an outline map of the Czech Republic and personalisation. Each medal also features cut-outs (openwork). The medals also have a dedicated printing ribbon.

In addition to the medals for participants and winners, we also prepared 26 cycling trophies: 18 trophies for cycling groups and 8 for individual competitors. The trophies have an analogous design to the medals. An additional element is a wooden base in black colour and an insert with silhouettes of the cyclists.

Swimming and its health benefits. Medals for swimming competitions

Swimming is not just a way to cool down your body on a hot day or have fun. It’s also a form of active recreation and a popular sport discipline. It’s one of the physical activities that have the most beneficial effect on the whole body, improving general health and well-being. Swimming is often used as a form of rehabilitation from infancy. It’s the most natural form of activity for us. After all, we swim already in our mothers’ stomachs.

Health benefits of swimming

Swimming is a popular sport. You can swim all year round. In summer you can swim in open, natural bodies of water. In winter you can swim in indoor pools or water thermae. Regular swimming strengthens your condition and improves your mobility. Swimming positively influences your mood. Regular training will help you lose a few pounds and prevent back pain. Thanks to this physical activity you can also improve your resistance.

  • supports the respiratory system
  • beneficial effect on joints
  • helps to lose weight
  • stimulates the circulatory system
  • improves condition
  • has a positive influence on your mood
  • corrects posture defects
  • improves motor coordination
  • reduces cholesterol levels
  • helps to reduce stress

Swimming – sport for everyone

Anyone can swim. It is a sport for both children and older people. In many swimming pools classes are already held for babies. It is important to choose the right swimming style for you. The swimming styles differ in speed and intensity of effort. For beginners we recommend the backstroke and the swimming stroke. The butterfly swimming style, referred to as more difficult, is intended for fit people who have definitely more strength.

Swimming as a form of rehabilitation

Swimming is a great form of rehabilitation. It helps people recover faster after injuries and surgeries. Exercises in water are safer because they relieve strain on joints. Rehabilitation in a swimming pool should take place in accordance with doctors and physiotherapists. Swimming plays an important role in the treatment of osteoporosis – it relieves the pressure on the bones which increases bone density.

Remedy for excess weight

Swimming is an effective and quite fast way to lose weight. Thanks to the involvement of almost all muscle groups and the variable effort, your silhouette becomes slimmer and your muscles much stronger. Swimming helps increase your metabolic rate, and because of the resistance of the water, you need to put more energy into training. During intensive training, the body can burn up to 800 kcal. The best slimming effects come from swimming with the kink or frog. Swimming is a great way to lose weight, but also to firm up all parts of the body. It is also an effective weapon in the fight against cellulite.

Back pain? Go swimming!

Back pain is a civilisation disease faced by more and more people of different ages. The best prescription for the bothersome pressure in the back is swimming. While swimming, the correct body posture is maintained and practically all muscle groups are involved. Water is a natural stress reliever and provides even resistance for your muscles without putting any strain on your joints and bones. Swimming supports the respiratory system – chest muscles work better. Swimming reduces stiffness of joints and stabilises the spine, getting rid of pain.
